With Memorial Day weekend upon us aka the unofficial start of summer. I think there is no better time to share these must-have recipes for summer. We use oils every single day around here and with this being our first summer using them we couldn’t be more excited to find even more ways to use them! Without further ado, my favorite summertime recipes:
AFTER SUN SPRAY:
You got too much sun, it happens to the best of us, especially here in sunny South Florida. When it happens, mix in a 2oz spray bottle:
- 5 drops Coibia
- 5 drops Lavender
- 3-5 drops Peppermint
- fill halfway with witch hazel
- top the rest of with water
Spray affected areas a few times a day – don’t forget to shake before using
There’s no getting around this pretty much no matter where you live but especially again in South Florida where we have these annoying little bugs called “no see ems” Mix this up and fear not the outdoors anymore! In a 2oz spray bottle:
- 10 drops Citronella
- 10 drops Lemongrass
- 5 drops Peppermint
- 5 drops Tea Tree
- 1 tablespoon witch hazel
- fill the rest with water
Shake before each use.
Let’s face it, we all want smooth legs for summer but finding the perfect exfoliant can be hard. So why not go the natural route with things you already have at home? Try this:
The ratio is 1 cup sugar (white or brown) + 1/4 cup oil (coconut, almond, jojoba, or grapeseed) + 10-15 drops essential oil.
That should make about 1 small mason jar, enough to last you a few weeks.
The super fun part about this scrub is you can add any oils you want! My favorites are:
- Lavender + Geranium
- Lime + Peppermint with coconut as your oil
- Grapefruit + Frankincense
- Lavender + Stressaway
Big bites are going to happen no matter what you do and on top of that it’s going to be annoying for you or your kiddo if you don’t put something on in. In a 15 ml roller ball:
- 4 drops Lavender
- 2 drops Frankincense
- 5 drops Peppermint
- 1 drop Tea Tree
- 1 drop Lemon
- Top it off with your favorite carrier oil
Roll onto affected area as needed.
